With the way the economy is going lately, I had taken pause for a few seconds recently and realized that most marketing budgets are just like the bailout bill. They’re filled with ineffective and non-revenue- producing programs that for some reason people think are necessary.
Working in sales, it’s my job to be talking to clients and prospects all the time. The biggest problem facing my prospects today is that they are being tasked with hitting their numbers with less money and less people to do the work. Many are hunkering down and trying to do the best they can. Others have caught on to the new reality, that Internet marketing is a must.
Yes, what used to be a “new marketing opportunity” has become the saving grace for marketing professionals. Whether it’s SEO, SEM, email marketing or social media marketing – old-school marketing is out, and Internet marketing is in.
While on my way to work, I was listening to the radio political pundits talk about how the bailout bill is filled with pork, waste and non-revenue-producing items. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this can be true for most marketing budgets as well. Cuba Gooding Jr. said it best in the movie, Jerry Maguire, “Show me the money.”
Internet marketing will show you the money!
