To the Digital Marketing World:   Reach Higher in 2017

With 2016 behind us, it is a good time for sales reps and digital marketers alike to reflect on his or her progress throughout the year and set new goals for 2017. Measuring results with KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and tracking progress is a great way to see how far one has come and where one can make improvements. It’s an exciting time for the Digital Marketing World, with video content on the rise, and new technology and apps coming out every day (think Virtual Reality). Now Digital Marketing teams must ask themselves, what can we do to reach higher in 2017? Here’s a few tips to get started.

Mobile Devices: Reaching the Customer on the Go

There’s no denying that mobile is the new desktop. Customers are constantly searching and as we know, they are doing a lot of the research themselves. Make sure your company does not get left in the dust. Make your advertisements mobile friendly, make sure your website is responsive, and see how you can increase mobile conversions, which are currently on the decline (source).

Be on the Forefront with Video Content

According to The Guardian and Cisco, video will amass to 69% of consumer traffic on the internet in 2017. Sites like Facebook and YouTube are getting more video traffic than ever before, and 64% marketers are expecting video to be at the forefront of their strategies in oncoming years. With Facebook Live and image messaging apps like Snapchat, it’s easier than ever to pick up a phone and start recording. A couple of tips when creating video content: keep it timely, think about what you are trying to get across, and consider having text in the video for those who prefer to read than listen (source).

Understanding New Technology and Apps

2016 has been a good year for unwrapping new technology and apps. We have seen the drone become more commercial, smart devices like Amazon’s Alexa that responds to voice commands, and self-driving cars are hitting the roads. Apps in 2016 like Venmo, Snapchat, Pokémon Go, and Waze are changing the game up with new and improved tactics. Try advertising on apps but beware of key components such as load times, calls-to-action, and clean layouts (source).
